Membership Software I Use and Recommend for WordPress
It’s important to get the right membership software from the offset as it will save you hours of time and a lot of money.
When I opened my first membership site, which now has over 800 members, I used the popular Ning platform which is great for creating Social Networks – so for that, it served its purpose.
But using a third party platform like Ning is risky because you are not really the owner of your site and you are relying on them, or whatever 3rd party you choose, to always be around for you to sustain your business.
So whilst these kinds of platforms have their place, they are not something I would recommend if you are intending to build a solid platform with the functionality to accept paying members and to also be able to integrate with popular shopping carts.
I spent Hours looking For the Right Membership Software
It probably took me a good three to four weeks of research before I finally made a decision and I am so pleased with my choice that I thought I would share it with you to hopefully save you a lot of time!
The Membership Management Software that I finally chose was Wishlist Member and it’s a powerful plugin for WordPress. After reviewing so many of these various platforms, I found it unlikely that a simple plugin for WordPress could manage such a huge task but boy was I wrong. The scope of this membership software is far beyond anything I could have hoped for and the price is incredible at a one off payment of $97 – that’s just totally mindblowing!
Inside the admin area, you have so much control, you can set up different levels of memberships or even use it just for the one level. I have a site that is delivering content over a period of about 12 -16 weeks, so I will end up with 16 levels. I just input when I want the new level to become unlocked and Wishlist does it all for me! As I have chosen my course to be delivered weekly, the new materials automatically appear when your subscriber logs in. So, if they were on holiday for a couple of weeks and didn’t log in, they would have 2 new weeks of content available to them when they next sign in.
It’s So Easy – You Just Tick a Few Boxes!
When you create a new peice of content, whether it’s a page or a post, you get the option of who to make it available to. Underneath the content you have written there will be ‘tick boxes’ for each level you have created and you just tick the boxes for the folks who have access to this content – it really is that simple.
The payment processing is fully automated too, so if you are going to use PayPal you could be on holiday whilst someone signs up for your site, pays you money and starts to access the content – it’s just a great, great system!
Watch the short video below to get a little bit more of an insight, or visit the official Wishlist Site to have a look at some of their tutorials and FAQ’s.
