That’s a great tip Helen, it’s always when you are thinking about what to write that it becomes difficult so keeping a little notebook of ideas is very helpful.

I tend to open up my WordPress and write a title to a new post with a couple of descriptive lines to remind myself what I was thinking at the time. I then save it as a draft and I then have a list of posts that just need filling out and publishing

I find that I get lots of ideas for blog posts when reading Twitter, Facebook or just surfing around the internet. So I paste a link and a few words into a draft blog post in WordPress as I have the idea. This means I always have a few draft posts that just need fleshing out a bit. Much better than sitting at a blank screen thinking “right, I need to write a post now – where do I start?”.

I also keep a notebook near me so I can scribble down ideas when I’m away from the computer. It’s funny how you get the best ideas when you’re loading the dishwasher!

Thanks for your comment and I think you are right when you say “But I do find it important for people who love my paintings to get to know me through my personal bloggings.”

I think that something as personal as paintings is crying out for a blog, it’s important for your audience to get to know the artist behind the brush. It can be tough sometimes to find the balance but the best rule of thumb is to be ‘genuine’ – do that and you’ll never go far wrong,

I am an artist and my paintings are about me and my life (mostly). So I blog about paintings and what I do during the day and about boyfriend and kids.

I find it hard to find the perfect balance between blogs about me and blogs about my work (paintings). But I do find it important for people who love my paintings to get to know me through my personal bloggings.
